Annus Horribilis or Annus Opportunitas?

The Queen famously called 1992 her “annus horribilis” in her Christmas broadcast and that phrase has struck a chord with many of us in the business environment in 2009. It’s been pretty grim for many firms this year and not everyone is predicting a return to idyllic conditions in 2010. However, in the true QED spirit of positive thinking, here are some ideas to ensure that the New Year is an “Annus Opportunitas” – a year of opportunity.

QED Seminars

QED Consulting and Doncaster Business School annual event is back. The financial and banking crisis has affected all of us in 2009. Will 2010 bring more cheer to hard pressed businesses and the public sector or will the gloom continue, spiced up with stories of super taxes on bankers’ bonuses? Come and hear two contrasting views on 8 Feb 2010. We have brought together two great speakers for this event and it promises to be a lively and controversial discussion. What is Talent?

Over the course of 2009 QED Consulting hosted a programme of successful and effective seminars. We are proud to announce the first seminar and networking lunch of 2010 on the topic of Talent Management.

What is Talent? Where is it in your business? Is it in the right place? In the long term, today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders. What can we do to shape tomorrow’s leaders today? Our Talent Management seminar will show how talent management and succession-planning impact on achieving the business mission. Explore concepts of: Talent Management, Succession Planning and Outline the four stages of developing talent management and succession plans.

The seminar will be held at our Doncaster offices on 27th January at 12:00pm.

December is very much associated with Christmas and a lot of December customs and traditions have been swallowed up by the festival.

And finally...

Caroline will probably kill us for posting these photos but we feel that everyone should know how proud we are of her passing her CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice. Caroline attended the graduation at the end of November at St George's Minster in Doncaster (where our spys took these photos).
