QED Consulting Seminar & Networking Lunch – Workplace Disputes

The Workplace disputes seminar, held at the QED Consulting offices was a huge success! Businesses from the area came together to hear guest speaker Roger Grove from Atteys Commercial and Jo Bloor (Business Development Manager), talk about ‘Workplace Disputes’ - how to avoid tribunals and relationship breakdowns between the employer and the employee.

Jo explained how it is essential that in every business, the management team have the key skills needed to avoid legal intervention. A few points that all management teams should be trained in are:-

  • Understanding of internal Grievance Procedures
  • Basic understanding of Employment Law
  • Interviewing Skills
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Effective listening and record keeping
  • Coaching Skills
  • Conflict resolution

Roger kindly reminded us ‘the simple fact is that the costs of dealing with all employment disputes will come out of a company’s bottom line and the time and money that is invested in it will always be unproductive.’

We would like to say a huge thank you to both our speakers and to the many organisations that were able to attend, including, Clyde Materials, Bridon, Human, Hatfield Visual Arts College, Hawsons Chartered Accountants, Kingston Communications, Numero and Sewell Moorhouse.

The next ‘Seminar and Networking Lunch’ will be held in September which will focus on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery. We look forward to seeing you there. For further details on the event contact Nicola England on 01302 761 222 or email her.
