Welcome to the August edition of QED Consulting’s E bulletin. We hope none of you have been affected too badly by the recent floods. One of us had sandbags at the door and another had water in the cellar but luckily that was as bad as it got!

Our E bulletin this month is going to explore:

  • The future of enterprise and entrepreneurs of the future – this is a topic that seems to be on everyone's lips at the moment, whether in the public or private sector.
  • The barriers and benefits of Bid Writing - an increasingly important business activity.

This E bulletin will take just a few minutes of your time and we promise you it will be time well spent and really enjoyable too!

‘The Future of Enterprise’

Despite the rapid growth of the SME sector since the 1970s, rates of entrepreneurial activity in the UK remain moderate by international standards, particularly compared with the US.

This is something the government is seeking to redress with the full cooperation of the Regional Development Agencies through their strategies for enterprise and skills development.

Future Entrepreneurs: Success at the UK’s First Entrepreneur Academy

The UK’s first Entrepreneur Academy was piloted in July at Trevelyan College, Durham and attracted 25 past and present FE College students. The Academy, which ran over 3 days, was fully-funded by One North East and delivered in partnership with the Association of Colleges and QED Consulting. QED’s Royal Engagements

With high society engagements to attend to one of our very own Project Managers Jean Jones has just been for tea with the Queen! Jean’s husband Trevor is a Yeoman of the Guard, Queen’s Body Guard who on the 11th of July was part of the ‘Inspection of the Guard’.

Jean and the family were invited to this special ceremony which only takes place every four years.

Although Jean did not get to meet the Queen she did have the pleasure of talking to Prince Philip who asked Trevor, “Does she belong to you!?” We think that Philip could benefit from some of our coaching! Jean told us that “it was a lovely experience, a day to remember.”

QED Offices: Call to Conference!

Not many people know this but... In addition to our consultancy services we also offer conference room facilities. Our offices are geographically central with excellent transport links, making them a handy escape from your office and an ideal meeting point for you and your visitors. We can accommodate up to 40 delegates in our White Rose Suite or can provide more intimate surroundings for smaller meetings.

For further information please contact our Facilities Coordinator Caroline Dacres on 01302 761222 or email caroline@qedconsulting.co.uk

Caroline will be pleased to answer any questions and to discuss your individual requirements whether you have early / late events or need food and refreshments.

QED Seminar & Networking Success…. Again

At the end of July we had the pleasure of running our second successful seminar and networking lunch. Our IT Consultant Ali Imam shared the secrets of Personal Knowledge Management, ITRM Chiropractors made us all ‘Straighten Up’ teaching us how to maintain a healthy posture at work, which was followed by an enjoyable and informal networking session over lunch.

We will be hosting two more seminars before the year is out; A Customer Service themed seminar in September and in October we will be focusing on personal development with a taster into coaching and action learning.

The seminars have been successful largely due to the enthusiastic delegates, so thank you for your support and we look forward to greeting more of you at future events. For further information please contact Rebecca Hughes on 01302 761222 or email rebecca@qedconsulting.co.uk
