Jeremy Thorn, founding Director and now President of QED Consulting, reflects on the different styles of management in the private, public and voluntary sectors in the UK.
One of the greatest pleasures of being a consultant is the opportunity to work with clients from such a wide variety of different sectors. Quite often, we are asked how managers might vary, most especially between the private, public sector and voluntary sectors.
This can be quite difficult to answer without falling into the trap of unhelpful stereotyping. Yet it is regularly a surprise to find out what clear views some clients already have of those working in sectors different from theirs, even if these views may on occasion not always be well-informed!

Successful Knowledge Transfer Partnership in action
Following a successful 18th month KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) Programme, Marketing Coordinator Rebecca Hughes will become a permanent feature at QED.

Building Better Managers: CMI
QED Consulting’s President, Jeremy Thorn is set to be one of the key note speakers at The Northern Conference of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). The theme of the conference is ‘Building Better Managers’. Jeremy will be talking about ‘Turning Managers into Leaders’ and ‘Talent Management’. The Convention will take place at York Race Course, Thursday 10th May 2007, 09:15 – 17:30 and is open to all members of the CMI.
