Enviro-Enterprise in practice
Anyone trying to pin Alice Whiteley down for a quick chat at the moment will have their work cut out. But then so has she. Founder of Loop, Alice currently spends most days instructing fitters and furnishers at her soon-to-open shop in Ealing, west London. She is passionate about her business – providing parents with a facility to buy and sell quality recycled children’s clothes, toys and equipment - and plans to open her first shop in three weeks’ time. This is the ‘proof of concept’ store – beyond that her plans are to roll out in London and then nationwide.

Chairman of QED Consulting, Steve Hinton shares his story of entrepreneurial success
I first earned money when I was 11 – caddying on our local golf course by the sea in Sussex. I earned five bob – 25p in today’s money and in those days not bad for 3-4 hours work. Later I moved on to working on the petrol pumps and learned how to deal with people in difficult situations and how to be nice to people so I got lots of tips!

Consultant to Lecturer
QED’s IT Manager and Consultant, Ali Imam was invited by Doncaster College to guest lecture on their MBA programme early last month. Students heard Ali speak on ‘Knowledge Management’, covering areas such as the identification of knowledge assets and the transfer of knowledge within organisations. Feedback from the students said that they enjoyed and learned from the session. With the amount of interest shown, Ali’s lecture could be a regular feature of the academic year!
